Overview
Liquid crystal displays (LCD) have found applications in cell phones, PDAs, digital still cameras, and portable gaming consoles. For these portable devices, lighter, thinner, smaller, and shorter form factors are essential. A single-chip driver is the best solution as it integrates the panel driver, data processing core, frame memory, column driver, and row driver by mounting them directly on the panel. To achieve the programmability and flexibility necessary to enable liquid crystal gamma curve tuning, over-driving (OD) schemes, common voltage settings, and ID coding, a non-volatile memory (NVM) solution is most suitable, reducing system development complexity and production cost.
NVM IP for LCD Driver
NeoBit OTP HR and NeoBit PMTP HR are eMemory IP offerings particularly well suited for LCD driver applications. NeoBit OTP HR can be used for setting or trimming key LCD driver parameters such as gamma values, reference voltage, regulator frequency, and common voltage level. With these capabilities, NeoBit OTP HR has gained popularity among LCD manufacturers and driver IC vendors. Furthermore, NeoBit OTP HR makes it easy to have LCD panels with adaptive gamma correction to adjust for video content, colors, and viewing conditions, while facilitating integration with Look-Up-Table (LUT) circuits. NeoBit PMTP HR possesses the same advantages as NeoBit OTP HR, while providing additional programmability with multiple program/erase cycles. NeoBit OTP HR and NeoBit PMTP HR are available in a variety of technologies and configurations through multiple foundries.
